My favorite character

My favorite character

And when I say mine, I mean yours. Now, so far you have only had two books, which means we cannot discuss those who survive into the third and fourth installment of this series, but we sure can dabble a little into the protagonists, antagonists and other gonists featured in The Betrayed and The Broken.

All right, so if you ask me, my favorite would be Bart. Count Bartholomew of Barrin. As the author who has created him, and as someone who does not identify with the character in my real life in the slightest, I still find him a favorite one to write about, for some reason. He embodies a lot of interesting personality traits, and exposing them is more fun than doing so with the others. I would not call that superior character development, as all of my heroes and villains have that, more or less, give or take, but Bart surely has a nice spectrum, full of contrasts. Just makes it a joy to invent his story and write it down.

I guess it has to do with the combination of power and weakness. On one hand, he is a wealthy aristocrat. On the other, he is a sort of a coward, the underdog at Leopold’s court, he is scorned by his wife, and he tries to defy the world. You have to admire someone like that. Not a violent type, not the most handsome of the bunch, but surely tenacious and fierce, on the inside. Anyhow, looking back at my experience with The Broken, I would have to say it is definitely Bart. Not Damian or James, because they are too predictable. Or Amalia, who is just annoying. But somewhere in between, there’s a disgrunted lord, and he is trying to be the man that no one expected him to be. A true drama. Not. Or maybe it is. How about you give it a read?

Now, what do you think? Ah, yes. There’s a chance some of you might not even read this post, let alone comment, so I will be here, forever alone. But that is all right. I can entertain myself. Sob. Cheers.
