Book Two manuscript is ready, almost

Even though my English is fairly awesome, I would not dare publish a book without submitting it to a rigorous, professional proofing service. Indeed, approx. three weeks ago, I got the book back from my editor, with all the little fixes, changes, suggestions, and whatnot added therein. Mostly, they were consistency fixes, to align with a certain writing style, but also some grammar and spelling touches. Yesterday evening, I uploaded the proofed manuscript to the publisher’s website, with all the little changes added. This means I ought to receive the first print draft soon. This means Book Two, named The Broken, ought to be released in the coming weeks.

The process goes as follows: one digital and one physical proof. Should I not find any problems in the formatting, styling and the content itself, the book will hit the shelves once this first round of proofing is completed. Otherwise, I might have to do some revisions, and this could delay the publication by a few more weeks, nothing major, though. I believe, realistically, The Broken will be launched in early May. No promise.

Back to the manuscript editing, overall, I did not have that many problems in my 220K words of text. I am most pleased that there was only one moderately significant inconsistency throughout the book, which indicates my organization and so-called book keeping method is probably rather efficient. There were a few chapters that did need some scrubbing, as I had too many POV featured, and this could have caused readers some confusion.

Now, one more thing worth bearing in mind is – I did listen to you, fellas. You complained about The Betrayed being sometimes too fast, too abrupt, and some of the chapters and scenes too short. Well, The Broken is a longer book, and so it should provide you with chancetime to adapt to the storyline, just before bad things start happening. And believe me, there’s gonna quite some shock and drama in the book. But you will have the chance to discover all that soon. Anyhow, I am very excited. The book is almost ready. Stay tuned.
