Did someone say Castles?

Did someone say Castles?

Medieval castles are an inseparable part of any fantasy book. Whether it’s high or low, magical or not, steampunk, industrial or barbaric, eventually, you will come across a big, architecturally magnificent piece of human masonry, woodwork and physics that goes against all logic. Which is totally cool, because you’re not there to admire realism, you’re there to admire ancient buildings created by a bygone races exactly 3,000 years ago. Or something. So how about some castles?

Contest: Read a book and win a gadget!

Contest: Read a book and win a gadget!

Beware geeks bearing gifts, the popular saying goes. But not when those gifts are fancy electronics gadgets, an expensive one of which you may win should you decide to continue reading this article and follow its instructions. As it happens, I’m running a contest on my main site, Dedoimedo.com. The rules are simple, read my books, write reviews and sign up for a lottery. At the end of it, there’s gonna be a draw, and the winner gets something fancy, like a tablet, a smartphone, a laptop, or a similar. Savvy?

Dedoimedo celebrates 8th birthday. Gifts!

Dedoimedo celebrates 8th birthday. Gifts!

In some parts of the world, it is customary to receive gifts on your birthday. I prefer the Hobbit method, where you give presents, so you actually receive them every day rather than once a year. A very neat concept, no. Now, in a couple of weeks, my primary site Dedoimedo celebrates the end of its eighth year of existence, hence gifts. For you.

Steampunk crossbow and pistol design

As some of you already know, I am not only a cunning linguist and a master debater, I am also an accomplished 3D designer. If you hop over to my chief site, dedoimedo.com, you will discover a wealth of lovely renders. But today, I would like to do something special. I want to give you a preview of a new hybrid weapon concept I made, a crossbow splash revolver pistol, created in the best of Steampunk genre fashion. 3D, of course.

Dedoimedo Ubuntu smartphone contest winer announced!

Dedoimedo Ubuntu smartphone contest winer announced!

Let us announce the happy winner of this contest. All in all, more than forty people pledged, or had their names pledged to the contest, including the participants of the original my-best-software and the subsequent limerick contests. However, only 22 of them wrote their reviews in time, before the official expiry date of Year 2013. We even had one  exception, of a contestant who could not purchase the book on Amazon due to regional restrictions and whatnot, but they got their book by postal mail and subsequently wrote their opinion on Goodreads.
