Remember that song by Sabrina, Boys Boys Boys? Well, it’s the same thing here, really, only completely different. Anyhow, after several weeks of waiting, some bureaucracy delays, some more waiting, a bit of hustling, pushing, shoving, and arguing with various clerks, I finally got my promotional shipment of books. They are here, the handsome load some 50 kg in mass, or weight, if you will. This means the moment the Limerick competition is over, I will be mailing the books to the lucky winners, as well as the last year’s brave participants.

Reduced book prices

Reduced book prices

Well, it’s a simple decision really. I have reduced the prices of both The Betrayed and The Broken, so more people get the chance to buy the books and read them, you know. Now there’s such a thing as a minimal price, which must cover the printing and shipping costs and such. In turn, this means effectively limiting the print distribution, so it won’t include some of the less popular third-party stores and libraries, but I think it should be worth it. While I cannot compete with the standard mass market paperbacks, the discount is still rather handsome.

The Broken, sample chapters

The Broken, sample chapters

All right guys. Here we go. Two free chapters from The Broken, book two of the series. This should give you a relatively good idea what the sequel is all about, as well as massively spoil the ending of the first book, since a few very monumental things happen on the very first page. In the very first sentence of the first chapter. So I beg you, if you have not read The Broken, do not be tempted to scroll down any further. You have been politely warned. Cheers.

The Broken has been published!

The Broken has been published!

Yes! Here we go! Finally. The Broken, the second book of The Lost Words epic fantasy series has been published. After almost six months of editorial work, it’s out there. Please note that the Amazon guys are still setting up store. The paperback version is out there, and the Kindle edition is coming out soon.

This 792-page volume continues the story started in The Betrayed. And the reason why it runs twice the length of the first installment is partly because of your feedback, dear readers. You expressed some dissatisfaction with the very fast pace and abrupt jumps between characters across chapters, so I added some depth and color to the tale. Worry not, there are no silly explanations about some dress a heroine might be wearing, or how green the leaves on a tree are in the spring. It’s pure, raw action, with just a little bit more extra background and polish to ease your way into the wonderful world of the Realms.

It’s the final countdown

It’s the final countdown

Yes! I have just approved the second proof of Book Two, The Broken. This version included approx. 40 fixes, which I found and spotted in the first proof, mostly spelling mistakes. Now that they all have been successfully incorporated into the manuscript, and nothing new and bad seems to have shown up, the book is ready to go. What happens now is as follows.

Book Four is underway!

Book Four is underway!

Holy banana! Yes. I have started writing the fourth and last book in the series. Guess what, three days underway, we have five chapters already written, totalling some 19,000 words, busy little steroidal bee that I am. Amazing, would you not agree. I sure would agree. Anyhow, some more details below, if you please.

Amazon.co.uk reviews are coming in, too!

Hey, hey, good things are afoot in the kingdom of Igor. That would be my kingdom. I’ve just realized I have several new reviews on Amazon.co.uk, in addition to the dot com site. Always a pleasure to see someone commenting on your work, in a simple, honest way, especially if the simplicity and honesty lean toward a favorable outcome. What’s more, one of the reviews was written within the framework of my Ubuntu smartphone contest thingie, so it is nice to see this little community effort coming along and taking shape, speed and publicity. Anyhow, this brings the total tally for mid-May, roughly a young since the book was published, to 29 reviews, with an average score of 4.3. Not bad.

The Broken physical proof is here!

The Broken physical proof is here!

Yes, finally! Today, the first proof arrived via courier, and boy, it looks awesome. The book is big and shiny and sexy, and weighs over one kilogram. It’s also one of the thickest books I’ve ever seen, rivaling some of the 1,000+ page mass market paperbacks like The Lord of the Rings or The Song of Ice and Fire, any one of the five books. But it’s dandy and cool, and here it is. The cover is a tiny bit damaged from the shipping, still, it’s the bestest ever.

Manuscript proof, version one, approved

Manuscript proof, version one, approved

With some small, unexpected delay in the overall process, I finally approved the 800-page first version of the manuscript of the second book in the The Lost Words series, The Broken. A physical proof ought to be delivered to me via courier service any day now. Then, it’s reading everything all over again and finding the odd spelling error and glitch here and there, but I’ve had the digital proof for a while now, so it should not take too long.
