The Betrayed and The Broken, free for a day

I am feeling sort of benevolent, so you will be getting my books, The Betrayed and The Broken, for free, for one day only. Both the first and the second book, respectively, of my epic fantasy series The Lost Words will be available for a free Kindle download on Wednesday, September 18, from midnight sharp all the way to the last minute of that day, Pacific Time.

Remember that song by Sabrina, Boys Boys Boys? Well, it’s the same thing here, really, only completely different. Anyhow, after several weeks of waiting, some bureaucracy delays, some more waiting, a bit of hustling, pushing, shoving, and arguing with various clerks, I finally got my promotional shipment of books. They are here, the handsome load some 50 kg in mass, or weight, if you will. This means the moment the Limerick competition is over, I will be mailing the books to the lucky winners, as well as the last year’s brave participants.

Amazon.co.uk reviews are coming in, too!

Amazon.co.uk reviews are coming in, too!

Hey, hey, good things are afoot in the kingdom of Igor. That would be my kingdom. I’ve just realized I have several new reviews on Amazon.co.uk, in addition to the dot com site. Always a pleasure to see someone commenting on your work, in a simple, honest way, especially if the simplicity and honesty lean toward a favorable outcome. What’s more, one of the reviews was written within the framework of my Ubuntu smartphone contest thingie, so it is nice to see this little community effort coming along and taking shape, speed and publicity. Anyhow, this brings the total tally for mid-May, roughly a young since the book was published, to 29 reviews, with an average score of 4.3. Not bad.

Read a book, write a review, maybe win a smartphone

Read a book, write a review, maybe win a smartphone

Several days ago, I came up with a wicked idea. As you know, I make my living out of Linux, and I’m trying to promote Linux-based technologies that I think can benefit computer users worldwide. Then, I also want to promote my own work. So what’s the best thing? Roast two birds in one oven! Promote both at the same time.

To cut the long story short, I’ve organized a book read-review lottery contest for the readers of my other website, dedoimedo.com, and want to extend it here. Namely, read my book, The Betrayed, or the upcoming sequel, The Broken (coming soon), post an HONEST (good or bad) review on Amazon and get a chance to win an Ubuntu smartphone.

The End tour

The End tour

Survival is a mean, cold bastard. You think you’ve got it all figured out, then the world ends, and you realize, well, not quite. At least, that’s what the twelve stories in The End, a short story apocalyptic anthology featuring speculative fiction written by the SFFWorld.com forum members, tell us. And so you learn that the end can be faced in many different ways, by being nice to your floor cleaner, by ingesting bacteria, through introspection, with celestial physics making its naughty things.

Anyhow, some of us agreed to do a tour. Each week, someone else would blog shortly about their experience with the anthology, and give a short blurb on a story that impressed them, an angle they liked best, a message they would like to focus on. This week is my turn, and so let me tell you what I had in mind.

Hullo, friends. The End: Visions of Apocalypse is an anthology presented by SFFWorld.com members, and it includes twelve stories that detail various depictions of the end of the world. The anthology features the work of Michael J. Sullivan, Hugh Howey, Tristis Ward, and nine other writers, myself among the bunch, all with their own apocalyptic visions. From grim destruction to tragic suffering, and even humor, no version of the Earth is safe. Well, the world did not end when it supposed to, and now, the book is also available on Amazon.

The End: Visions of Apocalypse book is out!

Dear readers, as you most vividly recall, several months ago, I participated in a writing contest called The End – a short story apocalyptic anthology featuring speculative fiction written by the SFFWorld.com forum members. As you even more vividly remember, I was voted among the winners. And now the book compiling the stories is out, just a few days before the world officially ends, so you’d better hurry and grab yourself a copy. Best thing? It’s free.

Anthology Contest – Igor among the winners!

Anthology Contest – Igor among the winners!

Here’s the thing. Some time ago, SFFWorld.com has organized and launched an on-going writing contest, called The End – a short story apocalyptic anthology featuring speculative fiction written by the site’s forum members. Stories, ranging in size from 2,000 to 5,000 words, are submitted via three contests on the Writing Forum of SFFWorld.com, revolving around Earth, Wind and Fire elements. Guess what, I participated in the recent Wind contest part, and I’m one of the three selected winners!
